Bonnieux Farm

While teaching a painting workshop in Bonnieux, Provence a year ago, I found this charming farm just outside the village. As usual when I'm scouting for paintable scenes, I slammed on the brakes, jumped out of the car and began photographing. But I wanted my students to paint this scene, too, so I drove into the driveway and soon spotted the owner pruning his vines. At first wary of this American stranger, he quickly warmed under my effuse praise for his oh-so-paintable property. We made arrangements for my workshop students to come and paint the following week....but my impossible sense of direction once again failed me, and I wasn't able to re-locate the farm once the workshop started. But I did have my photographs.....

Barrett--I recently bought a giclee of Bonnieux Farm at Le Bourdon in Naples, when I was visiting my parents there. I fell in love with it on the spot, as did my mother (whose tastes in art are usually quite different from my own). Do you have a gallery in Naples?

Many thanks to you for brightening up my home! -- Vicki Marani
