Spending each summer in Colorado, I enjoy seeing all the different barn shapes and colors, and I especially gravitate to those whose boards are weathered and worn. Painting them, I literally can recall the scents of hay, mule and chickens that I knew as a child visiting my grandparents' North Carolina barn. So the barn spirits are always with me.
