St. Simon's Shore

I've long admired plein air paintings for their freshness and lack of pretense. They offer a sense of how the weather and atmosphere affect nature's shapes, textures, colors and light in a way I believe is unmatched in the studio. I stood in the sand, listening to the surf and feeling the wind in my hair as I painted this simple scene.
9 x 11, Oil on panel.
