Meandering Marsh

This painting presented a real challenge for me, but at the same time brought significant satisfaction. One of my painting students took the photo and brought it to class; I fell in love with the scene. Generously, she allowed me to paint it. The challenge I set for myself was to give it a plein air feeling, even though I was using a 4 x 6 photo instead of nature as my reference. I like the finished painting, but I won't know if I really succeeded until I visit the site in person. Or maybe my student will tell me.....
Oil on Canvas, 20 x 20
