This scene is about 1/2 mile upriver from our Colorado home, and I'm trying to get out and paint plein air locally more often. The challenge I faced with this painting was to make Red Chief Mountain important in the background while keeping it from dominating the painting. Birds were in the trees beside me, providing my music as I sketched the scene.
